Columbia Joins the Jersey Living Wage Campaign

Columbia Group has today announced that their subsidiary Columbia Estates has become accredited as part of The Jersey Living Wage Campaign by Caritas Jersey. This means that all Columbia employees, contractors and sub-contractors will be paid at least the Living Wage. The Living Wage considers the cost of living, taxes and the value of benefits available to working people on low incomes. It aims to ensure that, on average, a worker receiving the Living Wage, topped up by in-work benefits, earns enough to live with dignity and to thrive, not just survive within the Jersey community.

Patrick Lynch, CEO of Caritas, commented:
‘It is great that Columbia Estates have been approved as a Living Wage employer here in Jersey, the first property management company to achieve accreditation. The Living Wage Campaign continues to grow and extend into different business areas as employers recognise the need to support their staff in these unprecedented times of financial hardship.

David Kennedy, CEO of Columbia Group, added:
‘We are proud that our organisation now meets living wage standards, as a minimum across the board. It is very important that our employees receive remuneration that aligns with a good quality of life. By gaining this accreditation, new applicants can also be assured that we are an organisation that will invest in them. At Columbia, we pride ourselves on providing the highest service levels at every level, which means employing the best people. It is important to us that our staff enjoy their work and stay with us over the long term. We want to support our team in every way we can, and committing to The Jersey Living Wage Campaign is part of that. I would encourage other employers to consider voluntarily meeting the living wage standards.’
